    A single line scan provides an extremely high resolution glimpse of the retina though it does not provide extensive insight because it is just a single slice. The RS-330 includes a series of scan patterns that provide increased retinal coverage while giving exceptional resolution.

    The 6 Line Radial Scan includes 6 lines intersecting the fovea with a rastering of 20 for each line. This is the level of rastering that is done in the single line scan of other OCTs. The 12 Line Radial Scan doubles the number of scans intersecting the fovea and provides a rastering of 10 for each line.

    Transverse analysis of the OCT scan allows analysis of retinal layers within the area of the scan. This en face view of the layers of the retina, and even within the choroid, provides a different perspective of pathologies. The transverse plane can be moved within the retina for analysis – providing insights to different pathologies at different layers within the retina.
